About the Conference

The 6th International “Woman – a Creative Personality of the Third Millennium” Conference, which is focused on different aspects of women entrepreneurship including entrepreneurship in the NGO sector, will be held in the Bohemian National Hall in New York from May 21st to May 22rd 2009. The accompanying program starts with short festival “Femina Film in New York” on 19th May; there will be also exhibitions of Líba Taylor and Jadran Šetlík´s photography displayed during the conference

The New York conference follows five previous international conferences, which were held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia among 2000 – 2004, specifically in Prague (2000-2002), Bratislava (2003) and Brno (2004). This year, after a five-year break, the three organizers – the Moravian Association of Women Entrepreneurs (Moravská asociace podnikatelek a manažerek - MAPM), the Women’s Forum (Fórum žen) and “Top Centrum Podnikateliek”, the Slovak association of businesswomen - decided to continue with this tradition and transfer the conference from Europe to the United States, to New York

Main aims of the conference:

• Networking, exchange of experience between women – especially entrepreneurs and managers on the top management positions, about their businesses in Europe, the United States and third world countries
• Creation of a platform for formal and informal discussions concerning professional development and successful entrepreneurship, especially small and medium-sized companies owned and managed by women in the global market (the main topic of the Day 1)
• Cooperation between business and NGO sectors and organizations (main topic of the Day 2);
• Preparation of projects supporting women entrepreneurship and business education for children and students:

a) Collecting and publishing the most successful projects and ideas to support women entrepreneurship in the world
b) Preparation of international educational courses for university students specializing in business and economics, held in Vilemov Castle in the Czech Republic
c) Support of fair trade through conference web pages
• Preparation of the 7th international conference in Nairobi, Kenya, 2011
